HIGH SCHOOL FISHING – CO-ANGLER PARTICIPATION

Participation in High School Fishing is open to all eligible members who meet the following criteria:

Student Eligibility

•   High School students must have completed the 7th grade but not have started their freshman year of college.

GPA Requirement

•   A minimum GPA of 2.0 is required for any prizes to be awarded.
•   Proof of GPA, grade level, age, and eligibility must be provided to the satisfaction of tournament officials.

Fishing License Requirement

•   All participants 16 years or older must carry a valid fishing license for the waters being fished, as required by law.

Competition Format

•   High School anglers will compete on Days 1 and 2 of the tournament, fishing alongside a pro angler in the back of the boat abiding by the same rules as a co-angler.
•   Anglers will compete against other High School anglers only.
•   There will be no Top 10 cut or fishing on Championship Sunday for the High School division.

Field Limit

•   A maximum of 15 High School anglers will be allowed to compete in each event.
•   Entries are accepted on a first-come, first-confirmed basis, limited to the number of available co-angler spots.

Entry Fee & Expense Contribution

•   High School angler entry fee: $100 per event.
•   Expense Contribution: High School anglers are expected to contribute $40 per day to their pro angler to help defray expenses.

Payback & Awards

•   High School Payback: 1 in 5 payouts at 80% of the gross entry fees.
•   High School anglers must submit a W9 for before any payout can be made.
•   There will be a $5 per angler hold back for the AOY 
•   High School AOY angler will be eligible for a $25,000 scholarship to Simpson University
•   Trophies awarded follow the same structure as payback (1 in 5).

NOTICE: BAM requires boaters to show proof of their: CA Fishing License, Boat Liability Insurance and Boaters Card (see rule 3) before competing in any BAM event

Monday – Friday July 21st – 25th:

• Off Limits – No fishing

Saturday January 26th:

Practice Day (30min after the Pro-Am blastoff and off the water at 4:00PM – Inside the 5 MPH zone

Saturday January 26th:

• Tournament check in and meeting directly after the Pro-Am top ten meeting at Huff’s Bridge Bay
• Bring your valid CA Fishing License, Boaters Card and Boaters Insurance (now required at every event)
• Bring your Tackle Warehouse receipts dated with 30 days of check in for a chance at the random $100 contingency prize*
• Liability waiver, Mussel form sent via text
• Fill out W9 form (required before any payment will be disbursed)
• Flights will be sent via text

Sunday July 27th:

• *5:30 AM Boat check opens at the BAM release boat (all boats must go through boat check and receive your official numbered boat float before starting the tournament)
• *5:30 AM to 6:30 AM angler interviews with BAM Media
• Blast off Scholastic Series 30 minutes after Pro-Am blast off
• Afternoon check in at the BAM Bass Cat Boat – 5 MPH buoy – Turn in your Numbered Boat Float
• 2PM Scholastic Series weigh-in
• Draw a $100 Tackle Warehouse gift card contingency winner
• Crown the Champions, award trophies and pay the field, shortly after Sunday’s weigh in
• Angler photos and interviews with the winning teams

*Boat check will each morning at the BAM Live Release boat (times will be announced at the pre-tournament meeting)

National anthem and morning blast off will be at the 5 MPH buoy from the BAM boat

General Rules

• Maximum Boats: 15 boats per division. Entries are first come, first served.
• No Championship: There will be no championship for 2025.
• Angler of the Year (AOY): An AOY title will be awarded.
• Entry Fee: $155 per team, with an 80% payback.
• Big Fish Payout: Includes a trophy for the Big Fish winner.
• Trophies: Awarded to the Top 3 teams in each division.

College Anglers

• College anglers may team up with students from other colleges.
• However, teams consisting of students from different colleges will not earn ACA points.
